5. Key responsibility and tasks:Key responsibility of the CCAI National Specialist is to provide technical and advisory inputs to assist the CCAI Thai National Coordinator (hereafter referred as CCAI National Coordinator) in implementation of CCAI activities at national level.

The CCAI National Specialist will perform the following specific tasks:

  • Provides technical assistance and support in planning, implementing, supervising and monitoring the implementation of CCAI activities at national level, in close connection with regional level, assessment and case studies in Thailand;
  • Provide inputs, advices and assist the CCAI National Coordinator on technical and scientific matters in preparation and development of CCAI National workplan, regular reports (progress and technical reports), ToR, proposals, organisation of meetings, workshop and training courses as required;
  • Assist in planning and implementing the technical aspects of CCAI capacity building and awareness raising activities at national level, amongst various target groups on climate change related issues, including on gender mainstreaming;
  • Assist the CCAI National Coordinator in facilitating and monitoring the work of national demonstration and pilot’s project teams; where appropriate, provide technical assistances to national teams;
  • Assist the CCAI National Coordinator from technical perspectives in selecting, engaging and managing additional consultants (if needed) for CCAI implementation at national level as appropriate, also in monitoring and evaluating the consultants’ work and deliveries;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CCAI National Coordinator.

6. Required qualifications:

  • Strong scientific, academic and/or technical background, M.Sc., M.Eng. or higher degree in environmental sciences, natural resources or water resources management, , or other fields related to climate change and adaptation and sustainable development; Having proven practical experiences in climate change adaptation planning, disaster risk reduction or environment and natural resources management, community and rural development, , or related fields;
  • Experience in technical and scientific work that can assist work on climate change adaptation such as modeling, impact and vulnerability assessment, risk assessment or within relevant topics such as water resources, wetlands, biodiversity, livelihoods, food security, floods and droughts;
  • Experiences in programme/project development, management and implementation and in gender related aspects is desirable;
